Conference Overview

About the Dialogue

Amidst current global transformations and geopolitical rivalries, safeguarding peace, stability, and sea-lane security in the South China Sea holds paramount practical importance. Nevertheless, compounded by global geopolitical shifts and intricate regional dynamics, destabilizing factors in the region have proliferated. Contested historical and legal narratives, media propaganda, and information dissemination by relevant parties constitute a new battleground among claimant states and stakeholders.

The Huayang Center for Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance, in conjunction with the National Institute for South China Sea Studies and the Asian Academy of International Law, will convene the Roundtable Dialogue on South China Sea Security and Launch Event for A New Critique of the South China Sea Arbitration Award in Hong Kong. The event will gather global experts and scholars to deliberate on legal and security dimensions of the South China Sea and release key research findings.
